The Early Years Learning Framework is applied to all years from Pre Kindy through to Year Two with a heavy emphasis on learning though play in Pre Kindy, Kindergarten and Pre Primary.
The focus of our ECE classroom environment is to build on the knowledge each child has as they enter the school so that they will be able to make a confident commencement to the more formal setting in Year One. They will be provided with an opportunity to enhance their social skills and make new friends in a nurturing environment as well as affirming their value and purpose as a child of God.
Within a fun and stimulating learning environment, these core foundations will be enhanced, with opportunities for children to develop a love of learning as they discover the wonder of God’s world and their own developing abilities. The development of age-appropriate Numeracy and Literacy skills is a focus throughout these early years.
The involvement of parents in the school is strongly encouraged and is a feature of OLG. There are many opportunities for parents to be active in the life of the school and their child’s classroom.
All teachers in these years are Early Childhood qualified and supported by Education Assistants.
