7 December 2016
2016 Annual Award Winners:
This has been a busy and successful year for OLG with the most pleasing aspect being the progress made by each of our students. To those families leaving our community, I wish you well. While we had a number of families with over ten years involvement in the school who were now moving on, the Wood family (Max) can boast an impressive 18 years! But that pales compared to an unbroken run of fifty years by the Re family. I spoke to Cooper’s tearful grandmother yesterday as she told how this long association was finally ending with Cooper’s graduation.
On behalf of the staff of your school I wish all families a safe, holy and blessed holiday period.
The ancient story told by Luke reminds us about the birth of Jesus and is one of those treasures we hear and store away:
“There were some shepherds in that part of the country who were spending the night in the fields taking care of their flocks. An angel of the Lord appeared to them and said: ‘Don’t be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all people. This
very day in David’s town your Saviour was born – Christ the Lord. And this is what will prove it to you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’ So, the shepherds hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and saw the baby lying in the manger.”
Students at Catholic Education Western Australia schools performed strongly in this year’s NAPLAN testing, showing improvements in most domains, across all year levels.
Below is an opportunity that some parents may be interested in. If there is sufficient demand we could apply to have the course run either before or after school next year. Please let us know by Next Wednesday, 14 December, if you want to commit one or more of your children to this.
The Importance of Online Registration

FAREWELL FAMILIES: The end of any school year always brings some sadness as the final child of a family graduates from OLG. The school community, therefore, extends its best wishes to the following families who, in most cases over a long period of time, have contributed much and who are departing OLG with their Year 6 child at the end of the year.
ENROLMENTS FOR 2017: As we are now in the process of preparing for next year’s enrolments, it is now time to advise the office if you are leaving us at the end of this term (with the exception of Year 6). We do however require notification in writing and where your child/ren will be attending next year. Please hand your letters into the office as soon as possible. Thank you.
Please contact Pip Kent on 0439 091300 if you can help out.

Message from Fr Patrick
Our friends make life really worth living. Maintaining a good relationship with our friends takes our time, energy and attention. Sometimes, because we are all frail human beings we can get the relationship wrong, that then needs healing and forgiveness to forge the relationship to an even stronger level. All our friends are precious people in our lives.

Perth Children’s Hospital Volunteers
Since 1929, the volunteer presence at Princess Margaret Hospital has been extremely important to the experience that our patients and families have during their time here. Their concern for people and their ability to create an atmosphere of friendliness and goodwill is invaluable. With the exciting move to Perth Children’s Hospital we are expanding the volunteer team and we are recruiting now for various roles. If you want to make a positive difference to the lives of children and their families who visit the hospital then we would like to hear from you. Please contact Andy Wahid, Coordinator Volunteer Services 08 9340 8716 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
Join us on January 9th till the 12th, 9.00am to 1.00pm each day
For 4 days of cricket fun. Western Warriors players will visit the camp.
