9 November 2016
Yesterday I had cause to take a potential contractor on a tour of the school during lunchtime, something I do not do often. He witnessed our students sitting whIle they ate and chatted and later, most went about playing games outdoors. But we also saw a large group playing chess alongside a few others who were reading or working at computers in the library. Later we went by the MPA where Mrs Gaunt was conducting a dance session with twenty of so girls. Upstairs was a student having a piano lesson. One of the Ministries were conducting their regular meeting in the Board Room.

REFUGEE CHRISTMAS HAMPERS
Our Lady of Grace, once again is proud to be involved in collecting Christmas Hampers for refugees in need. The refugees selected have arrived this year from many countries including Syria, Myanmar, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and Democratic Republic of Congo to name a few. Other families have been here longer and are supporting refugee families that are awaiting a citizenship appeal (these families are not eligible for any government assistance) or they are supporting extended family that are in the process of coming to Australia.
This week, pre-primary to year 5 classes have received a note from their teachers regarding the family their class will be collecting for. If you would like to donate a gift, please return the wrapped gift, labelled with the family details you are given (family number/ letter, gender and age) to the hamper in your class by Monday, 21st November. Each child is allocated ONE gift. This provides each refugee family member two to three gifts. Please do not include food.
The hampers will be presented to St Vincent de Paul Society at assembly on Friday, 25th November. We understand this is a busy and expensive time of year. Please note this programme is voluntary. If you do not wish to participate, simply return your allocation note to your teacher.
If you are free to help organise and wrap the hampers on Thursday, 24th November or deliver the hampers on Friday, 25th November after assembly, please email or text me.
I would like to thank you in advance for your involvement and continued efforts to help make this time of year a little more special for some refugees in need.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

His other books have won or been shortlisted in international and Australian awards.
Our sincere condolences to Taya Hughes (3B) and family on the sad loss of her great grandmother.
Currently there is a lot of wastage at OLG. Click on the link to find out what we intend to do about it.

Message from Fr Patrick
We all want to leave a legacy after we go to God. But this needs to be more than money. Our real legacy is the legacy of love we leave behind for the people we leave behind who love each other in the network of love we have created with our lives for their lives.
