Annual School Community Meeting and P and F AGM
The Board has the following functions:
This and That
It represents very high praise indeed when you consider the hundreds of teams at the finals.
They were nominated for their manners, courtesy and friendliness while in the presence of the judges, and from the comments of bus drivers and others, it was not confined to when there was an audience.
In my time at OLG this is the second Spirit of TOM our students have been nominated for and that is something that we should all be exceptionally proud of.
Last week Mrs Plakakis and Mrs Hardwicke attended a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) conference in Sydney on behalf of the school. STEM subjects are quite often mentioned by politicians as the way Australian education should be heading and this conference provided OLG with an opportunity to learn what the broader Australian and the international education community is thinking and doing in this field - the why, the what and the how.
We, as a school, will benefit greatly from what our teachers have learned from this conference and in time, our students will be the beneficiaries of this.
Mrs Emma Bibra has been a great boon to the school's efforts to cater to the learning needs of those students who are intellectually gifted. While our main emphasis for catering to the needs of every child is via their classroom teacher, for it is the classroom where they spend the vast majority of their time, we also see a need for extra support programs to assist in lifting a child towards their potential.
Our building project has now gone out to tender. These are due to be submitted by early November at which time we will learn whether the project is financially feasible. Should it go ahead, work should commence mid to late November.
Please contact Pip Kent on 0439 091300 if you can help out.
It is imperative that once you place your online order, you check your “active orders" section to ensure that your order has been captured correctly. We are having increasing numbers of children coming to canteen without orders being placed. This is causing distress for the children.
Canteen will be closed for regular orders on Friday 21st October.
Congratulations to the students who received Merit Awards at last week's assembly.

Message from Fr Patrick
Not only can our bodies be tired but our spirits can be as well. Both our bodies need rest so that we can be renewed, refreshed, reinvigorated by God's gracious gift of rest. We also need to be alert, alive and awake to the presence of God in our lives so we live lives that are fully alive, the person He meant us to be.
Fr Patrick, Assistant Priest to Fr Richard, Parish Priest (email@example.com)
