Listening to the children of Year One Blue read their prayers of thanks on Monday was a truly delightful experience. They were thankful for being good at sport, school work, dance and other such wonderful attributes. They each spoke confidently and with self-belief, important qualities emphasised in our “You Can Do It” Program.
We are currently interviewing families for positions in the 2017 Pre-Kindergarten program. As part of the interview families new to the school are usually taken on a tour which involves dropping in and out of classrooms throughout the school. Staff and students are so used to this that it is little more than a minor distraction, if that. The parents very often comment on the high standard of behaviour of our students, the orderliness of the classes, the neatness of their work, the range of intervention and support programs, the high number of parents ‘on roster’ that they come across, the reputation OLG has for having a vibrant school community, how big the school grounds are to what they could see from outside, what an attractive school it is. Most come to us either after doing online research or because someone has recommended OLG to them.
Third Stream Developments

Congratulations to the students who received merit awards at last week's assembly. This week's assembly will be presented by the students in 1B. Parents of 1B children are invited to the staff room after the assembly for a cuppa with Mrs Emma Allison.

On the weekend 7 of our OLG Netball Club members appeared in an article in The Sunday Times featuring the Australian Diamonds and West Coast Fever goal shooter Caitlin Bassett. Caitlin is the WA ambassador for the Rethink your Hero campaign which is highlighting how important positive role models are in shaping our society. These lucky girls spent 2 hours shooting goals, asking questions and having photos with Caitlin and walked away with a new determination to work hard to be the best netballers they can be. It was an afternoon they’ll never forget.
