8 June 2016
This first semester is rapidly moving towards its end. Teachers are busy writing the children’s reports and my spare time is spent reading the first drafts of their comments. It is a satisfying task as it tells me of all the learning and positive development that has taken place across the year.
As announced, after 32 years involvement in running the OLG Canteen, Mrs Robin Armstrong will soon be retiring. The P&F will be arranging a function. More information will be in next week's newsletter.
From 2017 NAPLAN assessments will be done online. As a lead in to that, this year our Year Three and Five students will complete their Bishops’ Religious Literacy Assessment (BRLA) online. It will hopefully give us insights into what, if any, issues we will need to address before next year.
Please contact Pip Kent on 0439 091300 if you can help out.
While the online ordering email confirmation is being rectified, once you place your order, please check in your “active orders” to ensure that your order has been captured correctly.
This week's assembly will be presented by the students in 1G. Parents of 1G children are invited to the staff room after the assembly for a cuppa with Miss Kate Wrobel.
Book Club: Scholastic book club order forms were sent home this week and orders must be returned to the library before 8.30am next Friday 10th June if paying by cash. Please note, no late orders being paid by cash will be accepted! Please use the book club LOOP (Linked Online Ordering & Payment) system if paying by credit card at www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP it's easy and there's no need to fill in the order forms or send anything to school! Orders via the LOOP system will also be accepted until Friday 10th June.
Stephanie Alexander Program:- After six weeks our veggie patch is looking very lush and healthy and the year fours have been very creative recycling cool drink bottles into garden decorations.

Some children missed out on receiving their Eucharist pins and Mass Books on the 28th/29th May. They can be collected from the school office.
Please remember to come to the EUCHARIST THANKSGIVING MASS WEEKEND on 18TH/19TH JUNE. This is a wonderful opportunity to receive the Eucharist again in what will become a normal occurrence.
Parish Family Fun Day Committee
On Sunday 6th November we will be holding the Parish Family Fun Day. It will once again be an affordable family event to bring the community of OLG together.
We would really appreciate the assistance of parents within the school to help with this event. If you would like to come on board to assist with the planning of this event and/or would like to assist on the day please come along to the parish hall on Wednesday 29th June at 2pm. If you can not attend this meeting, but would like to be involved please contact Assunta through email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
