We are in the midst of a very busy and somewhat exciting couple of weeks. Last Friday saw our team compete in the Inter-school Swimming Carnival at Challenge Stadium and do very well. While I like a win as much as the next person what really excites me are the team spirit; the sportsmanship; and the fight-through-to-the-end attitude of our children. These are qualities that will see the children make the most of their abilities in life.
Boys competition 2nd
Girls competition 4th
Overall we came 4th
Congratulations to Mr Brown and the team members on a performance that did our school proud. Thanks also to all those parents that played a part in supporting the team and the smooth running of the carnival.
On Monday the 9th of May the children from years 2 to 6 attended an ANZAC incursion show. The purpose of the incursion was to give students a greater understanding of ANZAC day and why we as a nation celebrate it.
The show was set in the trenches at Gallipoli. The incursion commenced with the children crawling through trenches as they entered the battle field. The performance used lights and audio to stimulate the senses of the children, to involve them and give them an insight into Australia's role as we remember the service men and women, both past and present and to keep their memory alive.
The children enjoyed this incursion and developed a greater appreciation, respect and understanding of the Anzacs.
Tests have long been a part of academic and work life. In my day we sat the Junior (Year 10) exams, which determined whether you left school and took up an apprenticeship or went on to do your Leaving (Year Twelve). The results for every student for both sets of exams, were published in the West Australian for all to see. They were 'high stakes' tests for the individual.
Please contact Pip Kent on 0439 091300 if you can help out.
While the online ordering email confirmation is being rectified, once you place your order, please check in your “active orders” to ensure that your order has been captured correctly.
The Year six and Year one students spent a fun afternoon on Tuesday with the visiting players from the Western Force Development Team. The players introduced the students to Rugby skills in an innovative program to encourage children to lead healthy active lives. These activities also fostered a sense of community and provided the Year six students with leadership opportunities as the encouraged and supported their year one buddies during the new skills being practiced.
SCHOOL PHOTO DAY IS COMING!
Our school photo day is coming! Approximately two weeks prior to the photo day every student will receive a Kapture Photography order envelope to bring home. The recommended method of ordering your photos is online through Kapture’s website as your payment is secure and can be easily verified at any time.
Alternatively you can pay by cash and return the provided envelope to the school on the photography day. If you place your order online please DO NOT return your envelope to school.
Any parent who forgets or is unable to supply their envelope on the photo day will have five (5) days to complete an order online. Late payment envelopes cannot be accepted by the school office or by Kapture.
You also have the option to order a sibling photo package online, however please be aware there may be a limited number of sibling orders that can be placed due to time constraints on photo day. We suggest you place your online sibling order as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Message from the Parish Priest
You may have seen or heard that Pope Francis has written only a few weeks ago a well- received document on marriage and family. It is called “Amoris Laetitia”, meaning the “The Joy of Love.” It came out on March 19th the Feast Day of St. Joseph that was quite deliberate by Pope Francis. Both our parish and the school are vitally interested in this very important topic. I would like to offer an overview and summary of the document in bite size reading pieces for all the subsequent weeks of this term.
