OLG Run for Fun returns Term 3 “OLG Run for Fun” is back again in full swing. It is a free before school running club for kids and their families. No matter what age or fitness level, all are welcome to join.
The Running Club is run by volunteer parents each Tuesday and Thursday morning during school terms. It includes some warm up activities and games and there will be a couple of running courses, of different lengths, around Charles Riley Reserve to suit different ages and fitness levels; and maybe later this term, heading to North Beach Primary and around Star Swamp. Last term we had 70 young people sign up, and on any given morning, we had up to 35 kids and several parents run. What a great way to start the day!
As the Running Club is run by parents, students in Year 3 or below must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to ensure adequate supervision. A once-off permission slip will need to be completed before your child can participate and these are available at the sessions.
Days: Every Tuesday and Thursday morning during the term, rain & shine. Start time: 7.40am to 8.15am (volunteer parents will join in & then walk kids to school) Where: Meet at the south east corner of the football clubrooms at Charles Riley Reserve What to Where: Permission has been given to wear sports uniform for the day What to bring: Drink bottle, sneakers and energy. Eat breakfast at home first or bring something to eat at school after the run. Cost: Free PLEASE add the OLG Run for Fun box in FlexiBuzz/Tiqbiz for updates More Info: Contact Damian Hicks on 0419 930087 or email email@example.com OR Denise Bendotti on 0415 765677 or email firstname.lastname@example.org Volunteers: Bendotti, Nelson, Wheeler, Burns and Hicks families. More parent volunteers required, please come along, we would love you to be involved.
The body achieves what the mind believes. We all know running is a great way to get fit, but it offers so much more. Kids who exercise in the morning are generally more engaged and focussed during lesson time. Running clubs enable kids to build friendships and have fun. Running builds healthy hearts and minds and brings joy to children and adults. Please see attached articles which outline the benefits and success of regular exercise at school. Click HERE and HERE.

MINI VINNIES FUNDRAISING RESULTS Despicable Me 3 Movie Fundraiser- $500.11 Sleepout- $2,042.20
Thank you to everyone who came along to the Movie Fundraiser and a huge thank you to those who made donations towards the Sleepout. Also, a big thank you for your kind donations of pots and pans, blankets and winter clothing.
The children were particularly overwhelmed with the generosity of the OLG community for the Sleepout. Even more important than the fundraising, they gained so much from the weekend. They ended the weekend with so much more knowledge on homelessness and empathy for those who are homeless. They should be very proud of their achievements.
The Sleepout money will go to the North Beach St Vincent De Paul Conference to assist with emergency relief. While the money raised from the movie fundraiser will be put into an account to help with other Mini Vinnies projects. This will include purchasing products for the cooking of meals for Shopfront, as well as sending some money to Rangala Orphanage to help purchase blankets for the children and babies.
Ursula Frayne Catholic College has recently commenced a new Alumni and as our school is both young and old at the same time we believe that many former students and staff would be located all over the state. Our foundation school (St Joachim’s) commenced 118 years ago and in 1990 amalgamated with Xavier College to form what is now Ursula Frayne Catholic College. It would be very much appreciated if you would be able to publish the below message in your school newsletter for a couple of weeks in the hope that we can reconnect with a large number of former students and staff before our impending 120 year celebrations.
Are YOU a Former Student or Staff Member? Are you a former student or staff of St Joachim’s, Xavier College, Our Lady Help of Christians, Our Lady of Mercy or Ursula Frayne Catholic College? We are looking for you to join the newly formed Alumni. Let us help you reconnect with your old school and friends. Go to our website www.ursulafrayne.wa.edu.au and complete the registration form (under Community) or contact Mary McGonigle on 9470 0925 or email@example.com to have a form sent to you. In 2019, we celebrate 120 years since our foundation school was opened and we would like to have as many former students and staff join us in celebration.
